About Us

About Us

Our Story

We are a group of researchers and educators passionate to study migration, mobility and the implications it has for those who leave and those who stay behind. In contemporary Pakistan, a significant number of people find themselves compelled to migrate in search of greener pastures, some escaping conflict, exclusion, cycles of poverty and structures of oppression which otherwise seem inescapable.  While recently there has been an active effort to document stories of migration, looking at migrants through the lens of economic deprivation is one that has been most commonly adopted by academics and researchers alike. Through looking closely at the journeys, our aim as a collective is to complicate the binary terms we use to understand migration.

Mission

Our mission is to make migration central to public discourse in Pakistan and to help people reimagine the contours of migration and the stories they have been told about it. Through research, storytelling and dialogue, we hope to empower our young generation with critical thinking skills to build an empathetic society and a forward-thinking Pakistan.

Vision

Our vision is to foster empathy and reshape perceptions of mobility and migration. Through empathy-driven exploration, we aim to influence policies and contribute to a compassionate world for migrants.
